commandments of God

   This term refers to the ten laws or the Decalogue given by God to Moses on Mount Sinai (see Ex 20:2-17; Deut 5:6-21) as the fundamental rules of conduct for the Chosen People. The first three of the Ten Commandmentsconcern the love of God; the other seven commandments concern the love of neighbor. (See CCC 2052-2082)
